Edna Taylor Composition Contest

This event is for students of OMTA members only.  Membership dues must be paid by September 1.

The purpose of this contest is to encourage young composers of piano music residing in Nebraska or Iowa.  Three awards are given.  One for students in grades 4 - 6 ($30.00), for students in grades 7 - 9 ($40.00), and one for students in grades 10 - 12 ($50.00).  Participants must attend the OMTA Composition recital in the Spring and perform or have their piece performed. Oral program notes will be given before the piece is performed.  Entries must include:

bullet A photocopy of the composition, notates either by hand or by computer, including the student's first name only.
bullet An audio or video tape of the composition, including the student's first name only (the composition may be played either by the student or the teacher).
bullet An entry form signed by the student and the teacher, including a $15.00 entry fee.  OMTA will retain possession of the compositions, but will make every attempt to return the tapes.  Copyrights to the compositions remain with the student.
bullet Recommended deadline is February 1 so that winners may perform in the spring recital.
